CUT

Cut is widely considered a diamond’s most important characteristic as it has the greatest overall influence on a diamond’s beauty and appearance. When you think of “sparkle and brilliance”, the cut of the diamond is responsible.

The cut of a diamond not only refers to the shape and the numbers of facets, but also to the quality of the cut - Most importantly its proportions, symmetry and polish. In a well proportioned and symmetrical diamond, light will enter through the crown and exit there as well as shown in the diagram below of an Ideal Cut. A poorly cut diamond allows to much light to escape through the sides and bottom. This results in a dull appearance even if the diamond has good color and clarity.
